Case Study of Carl Robins’ April Recruitment Effort
There were a few problems that came up as a result of Carl Robins’ recent recruitment effort. In this case study an attempt will be made to identify the problems faced and propose possible solutions to those problems. The information that has been gathered has identified that a lack of employee experience and training, and a disregard to prior planning and a proper follow up strategy resulted in a failure to complete all the tasks needed to hire the new employees in the time allotted.
Carl Robins is the new campus recruiter for ABC, Incorporated and has only been at this job for six months. In early April he successfully recruited 15 individuals to work for Monica Carrolls, the Operations Supervisor. Given the information from the interviews that were conducted Mr. Robins was unable to complete any of the tasks that were necessary to enable the new hires to begin work. The tasks included the reviewing the training schedule, setting up orientation, arranging for training manuals and policy booklets, making sure physicals and drug tests were completed, and a host of other issues. Monica Carrolls contacted Mr. Robins on May 15th to discuss these tasks. During this discussion Mr. Robins assured Monica Carrolls that everything would be arranged in time (University of Phoenix, 2010). It also appears that other employees did not keep the orientation manuals in complete order as well as keep enough copies for possible future recruitment.
Since there are multiple problems we must focus on each individually to find solutions for all.
First and foremost Mr. Robins is inexperienced due to the fact that he has only been working for ABC Incorporated for the past six months.
